As hard as Texas Democrats are campaigning for Wendy Davis, they are campaigning equally as hard against Kesha Rogers, who is running for U.S. Senate nomination.
While not unheard of, it is unusual for any party to actively work to defeat someone who claims the same party in a primary or primary runoff.
Some Democrats say Rogers is not a Democrat, and they are active on social media and other ways trying to turn voters away from Rogers before the May 27 primary runoff.
Monday, Dallas County Democrats tweeted out "Friends don't let friends vote Kesha Rogers in the primary runoff."
"She's a member of the LaRouche Movement, which has a history of violent exclusionary and discriminatory rhetoric," said Taylor Holden, Dallas County Democratic Party Executive Director. "The Dallas County Democratic Party does not recognize members of the LaRouche Movement, including and especially Kesha Rogers."
Rogers says President Obama has earned what she calls his "Hitler" moustache – a picture of him with a drawn-on moustache. Rogers shows the photo on her Facebook page and says he needs to go.
"Call your congressman right now and say, ‘Why have you not impeached this president?'" said Rogers in a YouTube video.
"Having her on the ballot would just be bad," said Democratic Congressman Marc Veasey.
Veasey says it's his mission to keep Rogers from winning the runoff race.
"When you look at the things that she says, her rhetoric about impeaching the president, that is not something or anyone that we want representing the party in November," said Veasey.
SMU political science professor Cal Jillson says Democrats don't want Rogers running under their brand.
"Keisha Rogers is way off on the fringes, so the Democratic Party doesn't want to be identified with her very strange issue positions," said Jillson.
Jillson says that the fact that Rogers and David Alameel are the Democrats fighting for the Senate nomination says something else.
"It says that the party is weak, and the frontline candidates, candidates who have some experience, success in running statewide, don't exist in the Democratic Party."
Yellow Dog Democrats are hoping to take a bite out of the Rogers campaign.
"This one, especially because she was able to get into the runoff, poses a real threat to the good work we're trying to do at the Democratic Party," said Holden.
Rogers finished second to David Alameel in the primary election.
Through her campaign manager, Rogers agreed to an interview with FOX 4. However, in a subsequent email, she canceled, saying she had too much on her schedule on Tuesday but could talk at a later date.
